this week is the hottest week in a century in aus, with the temperature reaching up to 45°C throughout the week. Bloody hell...

It's 45°C outside, there are loads of people in the lecture hall, and the bloody a/c is either broken or just plain inadequate, almost as hot indoors as it is outdoors. -.- grrr.

The moments before...
Barrack Hussein Obama is now the President of US, let's hope together that he'll do his best to remedy the problems that were left by the Republicans immediately, which certainly will make the world a better place.
But of course, we shouldn't forgot the moment that revolved around the previous President, who's words/speeches may have actually made the world a...... 'happy' place.

Initially I promised to blog about my trip to BTN (Biro Tatanegara) Camp. No, it isn't like one of those camps that Adrian seems to be disappearing off to at an increasingly suspicious basis. Its a camp set up under the Prime Minister's Department to develop the minds of our generation. But alas! Alas! I am in no position to give my twopence for BTN is run under the Official Secrets Act. That means that all cameras, camcorders, recorders and handphones were to be 'looked after' by the officers for a period of 5 days while forced participants rotted in shitholes or risked losing their scholarships. Wait I meant development centres. But in the spirit of show and tell, I will let you read another person's account of the eye-opening programme here.

So once that was done I went to Turkey for a holiday with my family. It's the most interesting and beautiful place to be at if you're one of those artsy type of people or fall under the age group of 45 and above. If not, you can always amuse yourself by staring at one of the many rocks that litter tourists sites that the latter can't seem to get enough pictures of. They all look the same to me but maybe its their artistic eyes.. or Alzheimer's. The markets were pretty good though. You can buy all sorts of designer knock offs at low (30% of ori price) prices and leather goods that were really pretty. Some vendors were selling Turkish Viagra that allowed you to have "6 TIMES IN THE NIGHT". Times of what? I don't know. I innocent :D . Oh. And their Turkish Delights owned all the candy I've ever had in my life combined :D :D :D
By the way, I'll be going to Melbourne on the 15th of Feb so people in Malaysia, ask me out so we can catch up. Those in Melbourne will be assigned feeding duties. And no fighting, there's plenty of me to go around.
Till then.

WRITER'S RANT:
So, you can't stay innocent forever.
Now it's just a question of when you want to taint your actions. Imagine if there was no external pressure of each society to adapt to. Everyone would be so distinct. There would be no universal teen culture that believe the rites of passage go from getting drunk to getting laid. There's this conflict between the old and new.
Whether or not we conform is a subjective matter. If you really feel the need, no one can stop you, and it's not as though you are going to be ridiculed for what you do these days. It is all about the exploration of the self and the context in which we try to live in. Seemingly, society at large tells us to go party and live, apart from just existing. So one would presume that one would be in more trouble and subjected to more ridicule for the things you don't do.
Perhaps by over thinking about this, we're just merely reevaluating things we've already known to be true and constant. Reminding ourselves that our beliefs are special, that the select few who don't buy into this capitalist way of thinking (where everything is a commodity) are immune to whatever is "new" and "revolutionary". Would this be another case of 'us against the world'? The key issue here is dealing with how society as a whole see it. It is a question of majority vs. minority. It is the matter of sussing out the difference between normality and acceptance.
At the moment, I tend to contradict my own self. Everyday, I question the validity of my principles. And I'm not doing this for anyone's sake.
I need to do this for me - I know I govern myself.

they don't teach you how to surf the web in jail
was minding my own business, leeching the interwebz in the state library. then this kinda dirty/rough[dreadlocks, tattoos, piercings] looking australian guy walks over with a mac and sits next to me [plenty of other seats available]. he stinked so i thought i'd go sit elsewhere after awhile cuz didn't want to make it too obvious. still minding my own business, the guy starts talking, not talking to anyone, just talking about how he doesn't know how to use a computer and asking how to connect to the internet. i continue minding my own business, so does the other guy sitting at the other end of the table. then he asks me how to connect to the state library's free wifi, and i help him out. i'm not familiar with mac so was trying different options and stuff, then i saw on the finder menu 'log out christina row...', wasn't displayed fully. christina is definitely not a guy's name right? >.<" suspicious. after connecting his mac to the wifi network, he tries using the internet. i already had safari[web browser] open for him, but he exited it. he was trying some other things to browse the web. for some reason he thought safari was just something to use to connect to the internet. i had already shut down my laptop at that time, was just checking my phone and about to get my cables and move elsewhere. then he started getting frustrated, muttering [not exactly, kinda loud] about how he just wants to get on the damn internet]. so i tell him he needs to use safari, then he saw a google search menu on the top right of the browser window, asked me if he could type in something there and google it, i said he could. he then put the cursor there, but didn't click, and started typing. i told him he had to click first then type, so he did that. loading was pretty slow, so he started muttering again, saying how hes never used a comp, never went on the net before, he's only done a short computer course in JAIL...[-_-" why am i not surprised].
pointed out to him that the page was still loading, as shown on the progress bar at the bottom of the browser, then gathered my cables n said cya.
an 'interesting' part of my day today, thought i'd share. =)
- he stinks
- doesn't look like he's of good character
- talks to himself
- logged on as 'Christina Rowsomethingsomething' on the mac he was using
- obviously not christina
- was in jail

WLM 9
Windows Live Messenger 9

I think it looks nicer than WLM 8.5. There are some new features here and there, like favorite contacts and groups. There's also more flexibility in customizing the look and feel of it, like adjusting the layout, setting your sound options for different alerts and having dynamic/animated display pictures [its free now, no payments =)]. Statuses are now color coded, green for online/available, red : busy, orange : away. In wlm 8.5 there was the color changer, they added on to it in 9, now they have 'scenes' to choose from which lets you further customize the way your messenger looks.
Overall, no drastic changes but definite improvements. The MOST significant improvement imo is the installer, the old windows live installer was rather bad. The new installer provides a faster install and more details on the progress so that you know your installation is still running [unlike the old one where it used to get stuck at 99% for pretty long].
I'd like to recommend a patch for messenger:
Apatch
It gives many options to further customize the look and function of your messenger. The newest version compatible with wlm9 only has a few options at this point, but it's well worth it because of the option to remove the ads in the messenger windows [which I really dislike]. Other options to note are disable nudge shake and disable nudge delay, fun to have if you like annoying people ^^. It also has the option to enable polygamy [you can open more than one messenger client at the same time which allows you to sign in to more than one messenger account simultaneously].

Summer 09
I'm back in aus, doing summer semester. Just finished my first week. Summer semester runs for less than half a normal semester and there's a limit of 2 subjects that one can do over summer. My timetable is similar to the timetable I had last semester except I get fridays free now ^^. I 2 sessions of 3 hour lectures a week for each subject I'm doing. Each 3 hour lecture is equivalent to 1 week of subject content which would've been covered in a normal semester lol. But it's not too bad, hope it maintains this pace throughout.
Decided to do summer cuz one of the subjects which I need as prerequisites for other subjects isn't offered in semester 1 [the February semester]. Also, if I do 4 subjects over 2 summers, its equivalent to 1 full semester so I'll finish my course half a year earlier. Last reason is because I rarely do anything productive in my free time. After a 3 month holiday my brain would've decomposed lol.
I don't mind doing summer semester, but when I walk to uni in the morning, walking through campus and seeing it rather empty, I still think "what am i doing here when i should be on holiday?".
Weather has been nice so far, it's summer but so far the temperature hasn't hit 30°c yet. This time last year it was 40°c, sure glad it isn't hot this time round. Amirah & Adrian coming to melbourne nxt month, anyone else? =)

First Post and EMO too...
For fear that I might get stomach ulcer and die from stress I decided to blog :)
heya ex sri kdu-ans Amira Ashaari here, not to be confused with the ever so hot and amusing Amirah ;)
Currently in my 3rd year at KDU College studying Culinary Arts (DIP-CULA) its a 2 year and 6 months course including industrial training. Started way back in March 2007 so by right I should be graduating by this year right? but certain dramas brewed up... might graduate next year even ughhh...
6th semester officially started last Friday, I have to do this thing called PM Module. My batch (CULA 1) are required to run 80% of the cafeteria for 4 months and make a profit of RM200,000 within that time. The menu, marketing, costing, advertising, cooking is entirely up to us. EVERYTHING has gone wrong and went to hell as far as i know. And bloody hell its only our first week
WE
1. Exceeded our budget by 86% (for advertising, food ingredients etc)
2. Made only RM400 on first day instead of RM1500
3. Got more than 3 complaints from paying customers
I'M STRESSED OUT BECAUSE
1. Get this, this whole week we're supposed to 'work' for 13 hours. 6am-7pm, no shit
But i can't handle too much shit so i go home around 4pm.
2. We don't get paid AT ALL but we pay around RM5k for this semester
3. 'Staff' meal = stray cat food
4. assigned leaders which are from our batch treat us like they own our sorry asses
5. NO TIME FOR GYM AND GAME!!! gahhh...
6. I gained 2kg :(
7. startin next week i have to 'work' and have class at the same day, 6am-7pm mon-fri damn NO LIFE...
today what really ticked me off is coz this bitch of a leader i have, a lecturer asked me to pass a msg to her
Me: Hey Julia, Mr Sufian wants me to show you where to set up the decoration for...
Fat Whore: Why are you asking me?! (with such fugly coloured contacts she widened her eyes at me with a constipated expression)
Fat Whore: I can't be doing EVERYTHING, ask Hana la shes the advertising leader! I'm not the DOG ok? You really can't expect me to handle these things
Me: ....... ( no, the correct term is you're the bitch)
I walked off in search of Hana, thank god i was too tired to bitch slap her face. Hmm maybe next time. More effed up drama to come, I swear.
Oh well whatever... life's too short to be pissed off at useless stuff like these, I'll write more when i feel the need to. Till then ppl, Happy New Year! :)
PS: Eeda, sorry if my msg was mean. Stress talking, you know you'll alway be my homie! :D feel free to be anal bout my spelling and grammar and Adik! I miss you :(
